Educational and Art Based Programmes

Our restoration work is about more than repairing the buildings, it’s about bringing life back into libraries. Through a range of programmes, we transform these spaces into hubs of creativity, learning, and community. From arts and music to academic support and civic engagement, our programmes make libraries relevant to everyday life and responsive to the communities they serve.

Art Bunk

Hands-on workshops and exhibitions that invite participants to explore their creativity through visual arts.

Dance Bunk

Movement workshops and showcases that promote cultural expression, community connection, and wellness.

Music Bunk

Interactive classes and performances that introduce learners to Kenyan instruments while celebrating music as a shared language.

Library Clinics

Workshops and conversations for adults and senior citizens, addressing everyday challenges from legal aid to mental health and civic education.

Hepa Jam

An extended-hours initiative that keeps libraries open in the evenings and on weekends, offering free tutoring, expert-led sessions, and artistic showcases to support learning, creativity, and community.

Jamhuri at The library

Our annual end-of-year celebration for young library users, bringing together children and youth to showcase what they’ve learned through holiday programmes in art, music, dance, and more. It’s a joyful moment of reflection, community, and fun as we close the year together.

A Night at The Library

A Night at the Library is Book Bunk’s annual fundraising gala, hosted at the historic McMillan Memorial Library in Nairobi. More than just a fundraiser, the evening celebrates the power of libraries as cultural hotspots, blending glamour, art, and community. Guests can look forward to an unforgettable night featuring fine dining, live entertainment, and a vibrant art auction, all while raising vital support for our ongoing library restoration work.
