Eastlands formed part of the colonial government’s African delegated zone.<\/p>\n

Eastlands Library is located here, in the Makadara constituency.<\/p>\n

The library was opened in the late 1960s and serves the neighbouring estates of Hamza, Jericho, California, Huruma, Eastleigh and Buru Buru amongst others.<\/p>\n

Some of the building codes incorporated use of carcinogenic asbestos as roofing material, posing a danger to the 189 library users from 2018\/2019, which Book Bunk has since removed as part of the restoration work.<\/p>\n

The library is a stone’s throw away from the law courts and county offices, and shares a compound with the Makadara Huduma Centre, making it the busiest of the three libraries.<\/p>\n

From January – November 2022, this library served 20,794 users<\/p>\n
